History
The birth of Cocuzzi wooden watch is the result of the fusion between ITALIAN art cabinetmaker handed down by generations of master craftsmen and the old school of Swiss watchmaking. The idea of a watch made entirely of wood and animated by a Swiss mechanism began to take shape in the year 1997. In that year, was offered by the same workshop a collection of only 40 copies numbered and equipped with caliber Valjoux 7750 of the well known Swiss company ETA.
The distinguishing feature of these chronographs was represented by sophisticated use of wood raw materials that found its ultimate expression in the realization of the bracelet. This consists of more 150 parts machined and assembled by hand. Particular attention was devoted to the processing of finishing every single part.
The main objective was and remains to create a “wood jewel" that maintained in every single copy the natural colors and shapes impressed by the artisan, unchanged over time. Surfaces protected with treatments derived from experience in the marine sector enabled to classify the watch
Water resistant.
During the project we studied the possibility to give extra strength to the case, which although resulting from the processing of solid wood machined was designed to can stay a second machined solid brass case that further protect the precious caliber.
Today Cocuzzi watch return with the same characteristics of the first series but with a completely and unique innovation: the wood closure with integrated mechanical.
